First Fav Movie: Star Wars.
First movie cry: Can't remember. Last time I remember crying at a movie was Return of the King's "I can carry you" scene. Probably because I block all the other times out.
First game bought with my own money: no idea. First game I remember getting: Legend of Zelda 2.
First CD Shoplifted: None. Only went shoplifting once, I got sunglasses, headphones and a pencil. I got caught stealing the pencil, go figure. The Crow soundtrack was awesome though.
First song on guitar: upcoming.
@Austin: The only part of LOTR that ever made me cry was the Tom Bombadil chapter in the first book. 5 pages in and I was sobbing, asking "Why? Why is this in here?" pleading for it to end. Then it did end, but then he came back and I started to cry again. I'm getting choked up remembering it now.
@Wendy: I will give you $8 if you can remember how to play either of those songs, with no reminders.
@Jake: lol. I never minded Tom Bombadil, but I'd been read or reading the LOTR since I can remember. The hobbits running naked on the grass always gave me pause.
In case you are curious, Tom Bombadil was named after one of Tolkien's children's toys, and Tolkien being Tolkien would make up stories about Bombadil for his kids, and added him to the book for his kid's sake, the rest of us be damned.
Though I believe he also once stated that every world should have some enigma or unexplained mystery about it, and the existence of Tom Bombadill-o was just that.
Interesting stuff, Austin. I read that Tom Bombadil was intended as some sort of mythical god-figure (not in the capital G-sense) in that his existence is not necessarily supposed to square with anything else in any of the books. Which is fine, but it kind of makes him a literal deus ex machina.
